On the Beach, No. 3
Maurice Prendergast (American, born Newfoundland [now Canada], 1858–1924), c. 1915–18.

Using it on a cover
The print file prints up to 11.3 x 8.6 in at 300 ppi — enough for a full 6 x 9 in front cover. Wider than a 6 x 9 cover: crop about 50% of the width, or use it as a wraparound across back and spine.
About the work
Prendergast developed a distinctive painting style featuring rounded patches of thickly applied color. Like many of his works, On the Beach, No. 3 visually approximates a densely woven tapestry.
