The bar act

The bar act is in the public domain in the United States, which is why Project Gutenberg can distribute it freely. Copyright terms differ between countries (often the author's life plus 70 years), so check the status where you plan to sell.

Retailers are wary of duplicate public-domain editions. Amazon KDP, for example, expects public-domain books to be meaningfully differentiated — such as an original translation, substantial annotations, or new illustrations — and may decline undifferentiated copies of freely available texts. Read the current content guidelines before uploading.

Remove Project Gutenberg's name and licence text if you republish the work commercially, as their trademark licence requires.
