About Deutscher Jugendliteraturpreis
The Deutscher Jugendliteraturpreis (German Children’s Literature Award ) is an annual award established in 1956 by the Federal Ministry for Education, Family Affairs, Senior Citizens, Women and Youth to recognise outstanding works of children's and young adult literature. It is Germany's only state-funded literary award. In the past, authors from many countries have been recognised, including non-German speakers.

Eligibility and entering
Check the official rules of the Deutscher Jugendliteraturpreis for the current eligibility window, accepted formats, residency or language requirements and any entry fee. For most established prizes the publisher submits on the author's behalf, often with a limit on entries per imprint.
If you are self-published, look for an explicit statement that independently published books are accepted, and budget for entry fees and copies for judges.
